Gerald "Wayne" Swanson

Gerald "Wayne" Swanson Passed away August 15, 2013 in Lewiston, Idaho. He was 71. Wayne was born August 24, 1941 in the old Fortuna Hospital across from Rays. He attended Scotia Elementary and Fortuna High Schools. Upon graduation Wayne went to work for Redwood Meat where he learned his skills as a Meat Cutter. In October of 1964 Wayne married Ruth Ann Antongiovanni. They moved to Fort Bragg where they lived for 10 years and Wayne worked at Purity Market as a Meat Cutter. They returned to Eureka in 1976 where they purchased and ran Tanners Market in Henderson Center. After they sold the market Wayne finished out his career at Food Mart and Rays until he retired. Wayne had a passion for hunting and fishing. He enjoyed the outdoors and the time he spent out at Ruth Lake on his property. He made several hunting trips to Wyoming with his good friends. He is survived by his daughter Tina Walters and her husband Ken, his son Ty Swanson and his wife Le-ora and his grandchildren L-E and Elias, his sister Judy Cox and her husband Ed and his nieces and nephews Bryan and Kim Cox, Wayne Cox, Jill and Trace Faughender, Julie and Lon Winburn and Jaime and Darsi Green. He was preceded in death by his wife Ruth Ann Swanson, his parents Gerald and Gladys Swanson, and his mother-in-law Arminda Antongiovanni. Friends are invited to attend a memorial gathering on Sunday August 25th at the Fortuna Fire Hall from 1:00 3:00 to celebrate the life of our father Wayne.
