Gino Marcelli

Gino Marcelli passed away peacefully in his sleep on Sunday December 30th at the age of 88.Gino was born May 19th 1924, in Eureka Ca. Raised in Eurekahe beganworking with his father in their family business at the age of 15continuing with the business after his father Attilio passed away in 1965. Gino served in the Army Air force for a short time. After leaving the service, he met and married his wife Margaret and began raising their family continuing in the traditions started by the generations before them. Gino loved to go deer hunting with his sons and grandsons, was a shark at the pool table and enjoyed fishing at freshwater lagoon at his ol friend Walter Marchetti's cabin. He loved going to see his cousin Dante and his family who he was so very close to and loved so very much. He could always be seen at Redwood Acres Raceway watching his son Angelo racing around the track. Gino had an especially close relationship with his Grandson Brandon, attending his sporting events and was so proud of his "Whisk". Gino had silly nicknames for all of his grandkids, from muscle head to lumpin giro. More kids heard " what do you think this is, a gymnasium"? Because so many kids grew up running around the back of Marcelli's, which is just part of the reason this family's roots run deep. After over 70 years of working and making the raviolis he and the restaurant are known for, he retired from working but never quite "retired" from Marcellis. He could be seen everyday sitting at the counter keeping an eye on things even in the last days of his life, greeting customers with a "how ya doin young man.." Or lady.. And always wanted to make sure everyone was taken care of.
