Janet Leone Bailey Janet Leone Bailey, 77, of Arcata went to heaven to be with her husband, Bob, on January 8, 2014. She was born in Cass County, Minn. to Opal and Ralph Smith on Jan. 12, 1936. Her mother Opal died at a young age. Janet was raised by her 2nd mother, Lucille. When she was 4 years old, she moved to Mount Vernon, Wash. Janet met the love of her life, Bob, when she was 15. They married on Dec. 5, 1953. Janet and Bob relocated to California. The pride of her life was her full-time job as a wife and mother to their six children. Janet was selfless, loving and loyal. Janet literally meant the phrase "my door is always open" as her back door was always kept unlocked for anyone that stopped by. Anyone who knew Janet knew how much she enjoyed playing games at the casino. She loved it so much everyone referred to it as her "job". She would get dolled up then call her kids and simply say "I'm ready for work!" when she wanted a ride to the casino. She also loved to read, do puzzles and drink wine. Janet was gifted at baking. Anyone who grew up in Sunny Brae ate her cookies or pies. Janet was preceded in death by her husband of 50 years, her parents and siblings. She is survived by her six children, 19 grandchildren and 15 great grandchildren: daughter Laura and husband Mike Pinard, their kids Bob and wife Jennifer (Camryn, Brayden, Rylee), Tasha and husband Mike Couey (Bailey, Hunter), Amanda (Lexi); son David and his kids Julian and Patrick; son Dean and wife Yvette, their kids Christopher, Mike and wife Danielle (Marlie, Addison, Emmaleah), Nicci and husband Shawn (Nat, Nemo, Pearl, Stefan, Lily), Conni and Sam; daughter Denise Fusi, her son Ian; son Donny and wife Michelle, his kids Cody, Ashley; daughter Jucille Barnes, her kids Danielle (Oen), Sydney.
