Janice Elaine Sundquist passed away peacefully on June 20, 2013. She was 86 years old. Jan was born on May 24, 1927 in Olympia, Washington to parents Vera S. Weller and Audie Cunningham. She was an only child. She graduated from Centralia High School in 1946. She then attended the University of Washington
majoring in English. Jan started working as an operator for AT&T in the 1950's. Using that experience, she later worked at the Humboldt County Courthouse for a time. Then in 1964 she began working along side of her husband at Caranza Marine. She continued that work as Fred went into business on his own in 1985. Jan excelled in this work and took pride in balancing the books to the penny. A big part of Jan's life was volunteering in the community. Some of the many things that she was involved with were: St. Joseph Hospital (Information Desk, coordinator of the newborn hat program), Relay For Life, Frye's Care Home (visitation), helping in her grandchildren's class rooms and coordinating the prayer chain at Immanuel Lutheran Church. Jan is survived by Fred, her husband of 50 years. Jan is also survived by her children Sue (Don) Hurd, Fred (Linda) Sundquist Jr., Tad (Cyndi) Sundquist, and Sandy (Jeff) Heston; her grandchildren Jenni (Alvin) Fong, Steve (Jami) Hurd, Renee (Travis) Ford, Andy (Catherine) Sundquist, Chad (Carissa) Christie, Trevor and Trey Sundquist, Justine (Jesse) Graney and Taylor Heston; and her great-grandchildren Asia and Jordan Fong, Jeran Ford, Chezney and Preslee Sundquist and Peyton Graney. Jan was preceded in death by her parents Vera Weller and Audie Cunningham; her mother and father-in-law Crissola and Fred "Pop" Sundquist; and she is now rocking her great-grandson Brayden Ford in heaven. Family and friends are invited to celebrate Jan's life at Sanders Funeral Home, 1835 E Street, in Eureka on Monday, June 24, 2013 at 11am.
