Lawrence Michael Renner "Larry" entered into heaven, on November 12, 2012 after a long struggle with heart disease. He was born to Ted and Annie Renner on the Renner Ranch in Metropolitan, November 19, 1925. Larry graduated from Fortuna High in 1943 and worked on the family ranch until entering the Army
in 1945. He served in the 23rd Infantry Division until his honorable discharge in April 7, 1946. Upon returning from active duty, Larry worked in the woods for Floyd Crews until he suffered a leg injury that ended his logging career. After the accident, he was hired by George Peacock as a petroleum tank wagon salesman in Fortuna and the Eel River Valley while still on crutches. He serviced farmers, loggers and ranchers, where he established valued friendships that he always cherished. Larry married Juanita Sweet, October 17, 1948 and had four wonderful children. In December of 1960, he purchased a Union Oil Company distributorship from Bob Van Hoy in Garberville. He remained in Southern Humboldt until 1968, when a representative from the Union Oil Company approached Larry and asked him to continue his success by owning and operating the facility in Eureka. Larry formed a partnership with his son Michael in 1979. He later sold out to Michael but was an active company "employee" until his passing. Larry had affiliations or memberships in: The Fortuna Volunteer Fire Department Hook & Ladder Co., the Volunteer Fire Department in Garberville, 18 years in the Rotary Club

He received an Outstanding Distributor Award and a 50 Year Service Award with Union Oil Company in 1998. Larry married Ceva Lucas, September 25, 1971 and welcomed her three children into the family fold. They spent 25 years together and enjoyed many family reunions that included all seven children and their families. This wonderful tradition gave this extended family the opportunity to form close relationships. After Ceva's passing, Larry married Merryl Johnston on December 31, 1998 and welcomed her four children into his family. He was a busy man with all these children and grandchildren; but his heart was so full of love there was always plenty of time for everyone. We all feel very blessed to have had him in our lives.
