Marie Brown

Mavis Brown passed away on Dec 24th at 8:27 am . She left behind her husband Donald Brown, two children, Julie (Jon) of Mad River and David of Loleta, and 5 sisters. She fought hard for six months and lost her battle with ovarian cancer. Mavis and Don Brown moved to Southern Trinity County in 1956. They celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary this past summer. Mavis worked for her school district for 42 years. Along with several other people in the early years, was responsible for getting our little school here in Southern Trinity. She retired in the spring of June 2005. She loved working in her yard, helping people with their cattle, and most of all she loved to buck hunt. She was very active in our little part of the world. Mavis will be missed by so very many of us. We all depended on her. She knew how to get things done! She sat on many different committees always willing to lend a helping hand; never knowing how to say "no". She kept herself very busy. She truly didn't know how many young lives that she'd touched . Life will be forever changed for so many of us. Services will be held at the Goularte-Brown Gymnasium on Van Duzen Road at 11:00 AM on Saturday, Jan 4, 2014 followed by a "Celebration of Life" potluck at the Van Duzen Gym.
