Stanley Wayne Masten

Stanley Wayne Masten came into this world on September 6, 1957 to Paloma and Paul Masten, Sr. Our Daddy went to be with the Lord in Heaven on March 30, 2013. He was number 10 out of 11 siblings. He is preceded in death by both his parents, Paul and Paloma Masten, brothers; Paul Masten, Jr., Joseph Masten, Sr., David Masten and sister Ada Masten. He is also preceded in death by nephew Joseph "Little Joe" Masten, and nieces; Lynn Masten and Stacy Bowie. Stanley is survived by his wife of 32 years, Nelda Nelson Masten. They had 7 children; Windsong Nelson, Misty Bibancos (Roger), Sian Gulley (Brian), Amber Masten (Maui), Shaylynn Masten, Shanley Masten , Andrew Dorgon and Steven Masten. He was the Poppa to Chakeni Chavez, Oscar Lopez, Dagoberto Lopez, Beloved Lopez, Ruby Bibancos, Emerald Bibancos, Diamond and Jewel s Bibancos, Cesar Bravo Hillman, Layla Gulley, Alyssa Gulley, Brian Gulley Jr., Jordee Gulley, Angelica Lopez, Rogelio "Lolo" Lopez, Jason Smith, Jr., Domonique Smith, Jeramiah Smith, Adeja Smith, Baby Boy Smith (due to arrive any day), and Great Grandpa to Jesus Chavez and Emilyn Lopez. He also leaves behind his brothers; Sam Masten and Danny Masten. Sisters: Milly Hostler (Keith Hostler), Sandra Calvin (Romain Calvin), Paulette Bowie and Cindy Masten. Stanley was known for his crazy sense of humor and always teasing and laughing with everyone. He was also known by many for his logging skills, which he had been since he was 16 years old. He enjoyed hunting mushrooms and fishing in his 55 years that he lived on the Hoopa Reservation. Being a tribal member, he never moved away from his home and wouldn't have had it any other way. We were left very specific instructions to keep this short and sweet, he hated reading long obituaries in the newspaper, so for all who knew him thank you for being a part of his life and he will be loved and missed by all. The family would like to give us a special thanks to Andrew Dorgan, Shanley's special friend, Brian Gulky, Sr., Dad's muscle and "Trail Cutters" til the end. A Celebration of Life is currently being planned and will be announced at a later date.
