Mary Christopher Obituary

Christopher passed away quietly at Frye's Care Center in Eureka from natural causes. November 27, 2011. Eileen celebrated her 98th birthday this last June 1st. 2011 Eileen was born in Eureka June 1, 1913 and lived in the family home in Eureka her long life. Eileen was raised by loving parents, Rollie and Frances Christopher, along with her brother Melvyn, who preceded her in death. Eileen attended St Bernard's Academy and Eureka Junior and Senior High. After graduation where she excelled in clerical and business classes, she went to work for the Humboldt County Civil Works Administration in 1933 and 1934. Schmit Insurance Co in Eureka was her next position, as a stenographer and secretary. From there Eileen spent a long and illustrious career associated with Walter Warren Insurance Agency of Arcata, CA. She retired and continued to live in the family home after her mother's death in early 1980's. Eileen enjoyed traveling with friends and spending time with her niece and nephew, Sharon and Dennis Christopher, her brother Melvyn's children. Eileen is survived by her niece Sharon (Christopher) Hiner and her three children Kevin, Matthew, and Jennifer and four great, grand nieces, Eileen was a loyal and devoted, lifetime member of the Young Ladies Institute of St. Bernard's Parish. Her vision problem required her to live at Frye's Care Center, comfortably these last ten years A grave side service is now planned for April 14, 2012 at 1pm at the family plot, on the front hill at Ocean View cemetery.
