Sherrie Reece Obituary

died peacefully at home surrounded by her husband, children and grandchildren. She was born in Hoopa, CA on January 14, 1950 and was the third of seven children born to Lawrence and Delores Reed. Sherrie (aka: Stagger Lee, Shaw Bones & Holla) had a very generous spirit. She was very family oriented and extended her love to multiple foster children who became permanent members of her family. She graduated from College of the Redwoods and the Frederick and Charles Beauty College in Eureka. Sherrie was a Yurok Tribal member and actively participated in the Native American Community. She served on several committees including the UIHS and YIHA boards and the Yurok Education Committee. She enjoyed traveling and even participated in the AIM demonstration at Wounded Knee. Sherrie is survived by her husband David Reece Sr. and her children: Kenny Hickox, Carla Aubrey, Hank Aubrey III, Horse and Nicole Aubrey, Buck Aubrey, Lavonne "Fawn" and Josh Guido and Ethel Reed. Her grandchildren: Julie, Zack, Jeff, Joe, Al, Ben, Shawn, Angelina, Angelica, Calvin, Chey-guen, Sabrina, Dillon, Eddie, Calvin, Eli, Michelle, Hunter, Aubrey, Dakota, Dustin, Amelia, Kenek and Keget. Great grandchildren: Lidia, Elias & one on the way. Her siblings Barbara and Bob Rakestraw, Simp and Sharon Reed, Ron and Crystal Reed, Butch Reed and numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Sherrie was preceded in death by her parents Lawrence and Delores Reed, her sister Ethel and brother Billy. Family and friends are invited to attend the viewing at Paul's Chapel in Arcata on Wednesday December 29th from 2pm to 7pm. A grave side service and a memorial dinner will take place at a later date, yet to be determined. Sherrie had the spirit of a true LADY and will be missed by many; she will always hold a special place in all of our hearts. Please sign the guest book at www.Times-Standard.com, click obits.

David, Fawn and Family: I am sorry about the passing of Sherrie. I will always remember that little shy smile. She always had enthusiasm and suggestions for programs to help out families. She highly valued family and she lived her life to show that. She will be missed by all of us.
