Alvin Frank Pires Sr. Al ~ (My little flying dove), 56, of Eureka, CA passed away after a brief illness, June 7th, 2014 with his loving family by his side. Al loved playing cards, fishing (Fish on brother!) and making people laugh. He was preceded in death by his father, Alvin Pires and grandparents, Frank & Emma Arruda and Frank & Mary Pires. He leaves behind the love of his life wife Janice Pires, his children- Diana Pires (Donald DeMoe), Kay Pires (Chris McFarland), Alvin (Bubba) Pires, Jr. (Valerie McClurg), Christina Eichhorst (Steve Eichhorst). His grandchildren Donald, Alyssa, & James DeMoe, Peyton & Zachary Harr, Darren Schneider & Gaberial Pires, Tyler & Hunter Eichhorst, his brother-in-law Herkie Bennett. He also leaves behind his little turtle dove his mother Gloria Arruda Chambers and sister Lori White (Jim White), special friends and fishing partners - Carl Adams & Bob Borch, his cribbage partner & "brother" Jeff Kahoalii, Renee Perez & Suzy Vast (who he considered one of his kids) Nephews- Keith & John White and niece Krisha White and too many aunts, uncles, and cousins to mention. A special thank you to Uncle Frank and Aunt Jean Arruda, St Joseph Hospital staff and Calif Pacific Medical Center for making Al feel like the President! Al's Wishes were to be cremated and to have his ashes sprinkled in all the places that he loved to be the most. The family would like to invite you for a "Celebration of Life" potluck at 12 p.m. on Sunday, June 15, 2014 at the amphitheater next to the Adorni Center (foot of "L" Street) and bring your favorite Alvin stories to tell - because Alvin would be there saying "Whatsa happening?"
