ANTONE L. PEGOLOTTI Antone L Pegolotti went to be with God on January 11th, 2018, surrounded by loving family members. He was born in Eureka on October 1, 1924 to Giacomo and Ida Pegolotti, immigrants from Italy who ranched in West End. He graduated from Arcata High School in 1942 and in 1945 started driving logging truck, then bought his own truck in 1946. He met Dorothy Huddleston at a dance in 1947 and married her on September 25, 1948. They first lived in Arcata before the birth of daughters Della and Eleanor. In 1951, Antone started a Fortuna trucking company that became Fortuna Transfer and Storage with Dorothy serving as secretary. The company had 29 successful years of operation before being sold in 1980. Antone continued driving truck for local companies while taking RV trips with Dorothy around the US and Mexico until Dorothy developed Alzheimer's disease in 2001. Antone provided Dorothy's care for five years until she moved to Mycroft Supportive Care home where she died in 2007. Antone continued care of his home and its 6 acres until selling it at age 91 in 2016. He then moved to a senior apartment in Fortuna, with special daily attention from Eleanor and Brian and the two St. Bernard dogs that gave such pleasure to him. He was preceded in death by his parents Giacomo and Ida Pegolotti and his sister Dolores Hamilton. He is survived by brother Jim Pegolotti of Bluffton, SC.; daughters Della Pegolotti of Aspen, CO. and Eleanor Burger and husband Brian of Fortuna; grandsons Brett Christensen of Eureka and Cody Vickery of Seattle, WA; granddaughter Brook Tatum of Cutten and nieces Sandra and Linda Hamilton of Sacramento. He was a proud member of the Knights of Columbus. A Rosary was held January 14th with an encryptment service at Ocean View Cemetery Jan 15th for family and friends. A Mass will be held Feb 9th at 9am at St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Fortuna. A Celebration of Life will follow at Parish Center on Newburg Rd. at 10 a.m. The family would like to thank the staff at Redwood Memorial Hospital.
