BIll F. Frye Jr.

BIll Frye Obituary

passed away peacefully on September 24, 2010 in Eureka, Calif. at the age of 81. He was born to Bill F. Frye Sr. and Delores Frye on August 18, 1929. Bill grew up on Fruitland Ridge and attended Excelsior Elem School and graduated from South Fork High School in 1947. After graduation from High School, Bill received his draft papers from the U.S. Army where he served his country for four years and was discharged in 1954. Bill was born with a carpenter's tool in his hands. He knew what he wanted to do very early in life and that was to build houses. He built several on Fruitland, including his own, and several in the So. Humboldt area. After the death of his father, he and his mother sold their homes and moved to Fortuna where Bill bought property up on Page Way and put finishing touches on his dream home. Bill was an only child until he went to Korea to serve his time in the military and while stationed there he met a young man named Kim. With the help of Bill Sr. and Delores Frye they were able to adopt Kim and bring him to America. Bill now had a brother. Bill is survived by brother, Kim and wife Dollie Frye of Eureka; nephew Billy Frye of Eureka; niece Delores DeeDee and David Hayes of Santa Cruz; great-niece Hana Lee Hayes; cousins Larry and Judith Cyphers of Redding, Jim and Aggie Cyphers of Kneeland, Sally Buell of Kneeland, Delores and Frank Barnes of Fortuna and Donna Thomas of Fortuna. He was preceded in death by his father Bill Frye Sr. and mother Delores Frye; grandmother Mary Cyphers and grandfather Alfred C. Cyphers Sr. Special thanks to so many friends that came to visit Bill. He mentioned his appreciation so many times. Special thanks to Dr. Irvine and Pastor David Groe for their care. We wish to especially thank HOSPICE and all the wonderful care he received. You made Bill feel and know he was loved and well cared for. Please come and share your remembrances with family and friends at Frye's Care home, 2240 Fern Street in Eureka on Saturday, October 9th at 1 p.m. Memorial contributions may be made to the charity of your choice. Bill was such a good friend to us for so many years. We enjoyed many evenings of conversation over dinner, sharing the days events. He did so many kind thoughtful things during reconstruction of our previous home and our current home. We are very grateful to have had him as our friend.

Jack and I are so sorry to learn of Bill's death. In our mind, he is still young and vital .... and sitting twenty feet in the air attaching the ridge beams in our house. He was a remarkable man. We really enjoyed our relationship with him and will always remember all the work he did building our home. Our deepest sympathies to all of his family. He was truly a special person.

My thoughts and prayers to all of Bill's Family. I met Bill at Hansen's Coffee Shop where he visited frequently. Always a very nice man. I hadn't seen him for sometime and had wondered and thought health problems may have been a problem. Over the past few years before my Dad had passed (Charlie Hansen) They would always have something to comment on the worldly news to each other. My Dad always had a lot of respect for him and had told me he was quite a carpenter and builder. I'm glad I had the pleasure to get meet him and wait on him at the coffee shop, usually setting at the third booth. He was one of our family favorite customers too all us waitresses at Hansen's. Our sincere sympathy to the family. Charlene Hansen Primofiore.
