Larry was born May 12, 1947, in Fouke, Arkansas. He was born at home on his great-grandmother's feather bed and was delivered by his grandmother. He passed away peacefully in his sleep July 29, 2012, surrounded by loved ones. Larry graduated from Arcata High school in 1965 and immediately joined the United States Air Force (1965-1969). He met the love of his life, Cynthia, in 1977 and spent 35 wonderful years with her. He was an excellent carpenter and held a variety of interesting jobs, but didn't find his true calling until he was nearly 50 when he went back to school to become a social worker. He earned his Master's degree and then went on to earn his LCSW. He spent the last few years of his life working at the Eureka Veteran's Clinic. Larry truly enjoyed helping others and was always available to offer options and guidance, no matter how trivial the problem may have seemed. He had the gift of putting others at ease when they were upset. Larry is survived by his wife, Cynthia, his daughter Lori, son Steven, granddaughters Chantry, RiAnne, and Grace, cousin Bill Long, uncle Curt (wife Connie) Long and too many other loved ones to name individually. There will be a memorial service on August 11, 2012, at 1pm at the Humboldt Masonic Lodge, 517 G st. (on the second story, above Vern's Furniture). Please make any donations in his name to the Shriners Childrens Hospital. Please sign the guest book at www.Times-Standard.com, click obits.
