Charles Lee "Charlie" Dillard

Charles Dillard Obituary

Charlie 82, passed away December 24, 2010 after a brave battle with cancer. He was born December 4, 1928 to Chester Dillard and Laura (Chivers) Dillard, and was a lifelong resident of the Eureka area. Charlie and his wife Marilyn recently celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary. They enjoyed senior bowling, gardening, trips in their motor home, and spending time at their cabin in Trinity Village. When their children were young the family spent many summers camping and boating at Trinity Lake. Charlie enjoyed being outdoors and liked to go deer hunting and ride motorcycles with "the guys". He worked as a heavy equipment operator for the City of Eureka and retired in 1988 after 36 years with the Public Works street department. Charlie was preceded in death by his parents and by his uncle William Dillard and wife Stella. He is survived by his wife Marilyn, daughters Sandra (husband Jim) Cearley, and Debra (husband Clyde) Berghagen, and grandsons James Cearley and Scott Berghagen, all of Eureka. He also leaves his brother Robert (wife Joan) Dillard of Eureka, nieces Laura and Nancy, and several cousins. Private services will be held. The family requests that in lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Hospice of Humboldt, the American Cancer Society, St. Joseph's Home Heath Care, or other charity of choice.
