I always admired the way I saw Chris, the husband, when out on the town with you Elaine—so caring and considerate of your needs. In the public arena his zest for life, the challenges he took on that would daunt most of us showed what a remarkable man he was. His passing leaves a hole in the fabric of Eureka. Thanks for sharing him with all of us.

I appreciated Chris taking time to mentor & show me how to conduct a Board of Directors meeting. His attention to detail & preperation were very helpful for me to observe....along with his sense of humor & observations of our "human-ness". I'm grateful to have known him.

Dear Elaine and family,
I had the honor of working with Chris when he served on the NACM Website Committee w/me for two years. He also came to our court and taught an ICM Caseflow class to staff. Everyone loved his teaching style. He was a wonderful person and he will be greatly missed by all of us. We always talked about various wines. I had promised him another bottle of wine to add to his collection and was hoping to give it to him at NACM 2011. We will have a toast in his honor.

Chris will be missed is an understatement – his good nature, hearty laugh and the insightful way he approach issues in the courts and our beloved justice system. His legacy will be through those he taught and touched on so many levels for many years to come.

All of us are richer for having Chris in our lives, either as a personal friend or as a committed friend of the courts. He will be truly and deeply missed. I first met Chris during the planning of the new Seattle Municipal Court building. I learned so much from him during that period and continue to use the lessons he shared with me today.

Words just seem so useless in trying to express the sadness we feel about losing such a great man.
Chris was one of the smartest, most generous, funny and kind people we have ever met. He was our biggest advocate, our mentor, a true believer in our plans for the future when other people thought we were nuts. We are better people today, both in business and in life, because of knowing him since 1998.
Elaine, you two had a magic together that is so rare and special. Your love is something we will always admire and strive to live up to in our own marriage. We can't thank you enough for being so good to us all these years.
Our hearts go out to you. We can't wait to see you and give you lots of hugs. Till then, know that we are thinking of you and sending our deepest condolences.

Chris was an uncommon combination of initiative, intelligence, insight, passion, sensitivity and kindness. While we shared many confidences and judgments of individuals and organizations I always trusted his discretion about what we shared. He always did his fair share on very project and team and was moved by and an effective champion of the important things and issues. I will deeply miss our exchanges of good cigars and the latest gossip. He recognized and honored the true contributions of others whatever the conventional wisdom. A true friend is the rarest and most valuable of all things. Chris was a true friend. I feel of profound loss with his passing to the house on the hill and look forward to meeting him there.

Chris was more than a consumate professional. While his contributions to the judiciary and his community were significant and noteworthy, it was his love of life and freindship that made him the special person that he was. His sense of humor, good nature, and passion for life were special and will be missed by everyone that knew him. The relationship he shared with Elaine was something few people have the privilege to experience. My thoughts, prayors and love go out to Elaine and the rest of the family during this difficult time.

Chris was not only my Uncle but my best friend.Chris told me something once that I will never forget.....
When we are infants, if we're holding something in our hand like a rattle and someone tries to hand us a toy, we don't know how to let go of the rattle in order to grab the toy. This is childhood development where we learn to do it later. Similarly, we can't grasp happiness and fulfillment unless we learn to let go of those things that are holding us back. It's true that no one can make you feel good, except you ... also, no one can make you feel bad, except you.
He always had very powerful words. I will miss his smile his laugh and most important his kindness and wisdom.

Dear Elaine:
I feel it is almost an intrusion to write at a time like this, but I must tell you how saddened I was by the news of Chris’ death and how deeply I feel for you in your sorrow. Words are not much comfort at a time like this, but I would like you to know that I am thinking of you and your family and send my heartfelt sympathy.
From our ICM days in Steamboat Springs, Colorado I knew that you were both special people. Chris went on to become a consummate professional in the field of court management. He was loved and respected by his peers. He will long be remembered for his case management training efforts. He provided his visionary leadership to both the National Association for Court Management (NACM) and the Forum for the Advancement of Court Technology (FACT).
I pray that time will quickly soften your sorrow and leave you only with cherished memories.
Sincerely,
Jude Del Preore

Chris had a booming voice and tremendous laugh. We used to hang out in the garden in Lantau until 3 am after work, and I expect he woke up half the building. Chris loved dim sum and sushi and chicken feet. He loved his work in the court even more. He will be missed.

Dearest Elaine: Words cannot express the loss we all feel with Chris' death. It's hard to believe I'll never see his big Irish smile or hear his infectious laugh again. But I will always remember his generosity of spirit and his love for the work of the courts. When I first went on the road, it was by the grace of God that I got paired up with Chris. He mentored me and taught me how to be successful on the road and for that I am deeply grateful. But more than that, I'm grateful for his friendship, his grace, his quick wit and humor. Chris was a 'gentle giant' in our field and a trusted and loyal friend. Although I will miss him always, I think the best way to honor Chris is to take up his charge and try to emulate him. I will give it my best for Chris. My love and prayers are with you, Elaine. Mary Sammon, NCSC
