Obituary Condolences

Daisy Marilyn Wildgrube Daisy Marilyn Wildgrube left this earth on Saturday, May 25, 2013 to go and be with her deceased husband Luke A. Wildgrube JR. of 53 years. Luke passed on August 9, 2008 in Dinsmore, CA. Daisy was born on December 11, 1935 in Fortuna, CA. Daisy was the youngest of seven children of Harry & Iva Smith from the Dyerville area of Fortuna. Daisy and Luke had been high school sweethearts. Daisy & Luke will be laid to rest together on Sat. July 6, 2013 at 10:00 am at the Fortuna Surise Cemetery in Fortuna, CA with a potluck following at the Fortuna Fire Hall on Fortuna Boulevard, Fortuna. Daisy went to elementary school in Rohnerville and graduated from Fortuna High School in 1954. Luke moved with his family from Washington to Humboldt County at the age of 12; he attended grade school at Cuddeback School in Carlotta; and in 1952 he moved to Dinsmore, California in Trinity County. Luke commuted from Dinsmore to Fortuna to attend Fortuna High and graduated in the class of 1953. After graduation Luke spent many many years working in the lumber industries in the local mills falling timber. His career changed in 1978 to a heavy equipment operator and truck driver for the Trinity County Road Department from June 1978 until he retired in September 1997. Daisy spent many years working for Twin Harbors Lumber Mill pulling green chain and running the stacker, and her last years in the office as the secretary. Daisy and her neighbor Evelyn Rouse spent many years putting lunches together for the Six Rivers National Forest Service during fire season; and looking for a new recipe. After her job ended at the mill after it closed, she was the head cook at the Dinsmore Lodge Recovery Center when it opened back in the early 80's. Mid 80's Daisy was co-owner/partners with Linda Elliott and Judy Allen of the Dinsmore Cafe until it became the hardware store. Daisy retired after all that working and enjoyed traveling with Luke after his retirement. Luke and Daisy enjoyed fly fishing in the local lakes, rivers and streams wherever they could possibly find a fish and didn't care how far they had to travel or walk to catch a fish. Luke and Daisy enjoyed cutting firewood to keep our family home warm during the winter and always had enough for someone else in need of some. Daisy & Luke are survived by their children Neil and Kathy of Rio Dell, CA; grandson Travis Wildgrube, Fortuna, CA; Nadine Hartman, Fortuna, CA; grandson Luke Hartman, Fortuna; granddaughter Lisa and Mike Williamson of Arlington, WA; and Marilyn D.
