Daisy Marilyn Wildgrube Daisy Marilyn Wildgrube left this earth on Saturday, May 25, 2013 to go and be with her deceased husband Luke A. Wildgrube JR. of 53 years. Daisy and Luke had been high school sweethearts. Daisy was born on December 11, 1935 at her grandmother's home on Dick Smith Lane, Fortuna, CA. Daisy was the youngest of seven children of Harry & Iva Smith from the Dyerville area of Fortuna. Daisy had many talents and hobbies from carpentry -- helping her mother in law build a room onto her home in Dinsmore -- to baking, sharing recipes, sewing her children's costumes for school plays, cutting firewood with her family, camping & hunting up on South Fork mountain during hunting season with family and friends, looking for old homesteads and finding bottles with Luke. Daisy & Luke were devoted to their family and community and were always there to lend a hand. Daisy was always planning the next family vacation anywhere from Alaska, Canada, Mexico to Wyoming. Daisy spent many years working for Twin Harbors Lumber Mill pulling green chain and running the stacker, and her last years in the office as the secretary. Daisy and her neighbor Evelyn Rouse spent many years putting lunches together for the Six Rivers National Forest Service during fire season; and looking for a new recipe. After her job ended at the mill after it closed, she was the head cook at the Dinsmore Lodge Recovery Center when it opened back in the early 80's. Mid 80's Daisy was co-owner with Judy Allen of the Dinsmore Caf until it became the hardware store. Daisy retired after all that working and enjoyed traveling with Luke after his retirement. Daisy is survived by her children Neil and Kathy of Rio Dell, CA; grandson Travis Wildgrube, Fortuna, CA; Nadine Hartman, Fortuna, CA; grandson Luke Hartman, Fortuna; granddaughter Lisa and Mike Williamson of Arlington, WA; and Marilyn D. Wildgrube, Rio Dell, CA. Daisy is also survived by her brother Ozzie Smith, his wife Joann, Fortuna, CA; sister-in-law Barbara Smith and brother-in-law Albert Mendes as well as numerous nieces and nephews and her sweet companion Tinkerbell, her dog. She was preceded in death by her parents Harry & Iva Smith; siblings Ed Smith, William Smith, Nancy McCullough, Emma Mendes and Adam Smith. Graveside services will be Saturday, July 6, 2013 at 10:00 AM, at the Fortuna Sunrise Cemetery, with a potluck gathering at the Fortuna Fire Hall afterwards.
