Dee Yarbrough It is with very heavy hearts we announce the passing of Dee Yarbrough on January 12, 2013. Dolores "Dee" Rose Clair was born on December 27, 1954 to Claude Otis Clair and Dolores Miles Clair in Lakeview, OR. Dee was the youngest of seven kids Norman, Goldie, Ronald, Claudia, Michael and Robert. Dee had many nieces and nephews that were all very close in age to her that were more like brothers and sisters to her too. The Clair family relocated to the Eureka area when Dee was about four years old and would make this area their home. Dee attended many local elementary schools, Jacobs Junior High and graduated from Eureka High in 1973. Dee learned how to be a survivor early in life after the loss of her mom when she was only fifteen. Dee had a strong work ethic and worked various jobs early on in her life from working at the Eureka and State Theaters to working at Long's in the Pharmacy. Dee was blessed to become a mother in 1981, when her daughter Stacy was born. She was blessed again in 1985, with the birth of her son Jason. Being a mom was Dee's proudest moment in life. Her kids were her world and she would sacrifice everything for them. After her son Jason was old enough to enroll in school she entered back into the workforce. Dee held many different positions within Eureka City Schools and then found her home at Pine Hill School where she was the school secretary for many years. Dee loved her job, co-workers, all of the parents and kids at Pine Hill. Dee randomly decided that she needed a change of scenery and took a position as a school secretary in Happy Valley, CA. However, after only a few years over in the heat her health required her to move back to a cooler climate. After her health conditions stabilized her kids encouraged her to get another job; they thought she was spending way too much time trying to teach her dog Santa tricks. Dee ended up getting a job cooking at Harbor Lanes. Even though this was a completely different line of work than she was used to she loved every minute of it and made a lot of true friendships. Dee was involved in many clubs and organizations over the years from PTA, PTA Humboldt/Del Norte District, School Council, Women in Business and Eureka Elks 652 Emblem Club. Other than Dee's kids her motivations in life were definitely her pets. Her pets were very loved and spoiled. Dee would always make sure she had enough for her pets before herself. She was very proud of her cat Harry who is almost 23 yrs old and her dog Stewart Little Dawg who was her constant comfort and support. Stewart knew his job was to comfort and protect and he never left Dee's side; not even at the end. Dee was also very ecstatic about the upcoming birth of her first grandchild. Sadly she passed just five days before she was born. Kinsley Rose Marlene Yarbrough was born on January 17, 2013. Ironically January 17th was the date that her Guardian Angel Grandma had guessed she would be born on for the past few months. The celebration of the birth definitely made for a bittersweet day but we know with all of our hearts that she was right there witnessing and rejoicing in the birth with all of us. Dee is preceded in death by her parents, her special brother Norman and sister-in-law Marie who acted as grandparents to Stacy and Jason growing up, her sisters Goldie and Claudia, her special friend Jim and her beloved pets Santa, Pepper and Kiki. Dee is survived by her daughter and Stacy (Troy) Dutra, son Jason (Angelica Aubrey), her granddaughter Kinsley Rose Marlene Yarbrough, and her brothers Ronald (Freda), Michael and Robert Clair, her special niece Ronnie Jantz and much more extended family. Dee is also survived by her ex-husband and father to her children Birl Yarbrough and all of her in-law family whom she loved dearly; Charlotte Yarbrough, Alan (Becky) Yarbrough, Cathy (Dave) DeNoma, Nancy (Mike) Cobine and Peggy (Joe) Gossi. She also leaves behind her special friends Karen, Sandra, Gary, Peggy, Billy, Juanita, Bill, Kiley, Stevie and her neighbor Kenny. Dee was cremated as per her wishes and a potluck celebration of her life will be held on February 2nd, 2013 at 1105 Hayes St. Eureka, CA. In honor of Dee please wear RED as it was always her favorite color.
