There they met dear and lasting friends Ernie and Dorothy Sousa, Raven LeBarron and Michael Stevens among many others. They were both long-time members of Mad River, Fieldbrook and Dows Prairie Granges. Dora was predeceased by her parents, her husband, her brothers Claire and Robert and her sisters Wilma Epling, Pauline Branscom and Lillian Beleck. She is survived by her sisters Ruth Skipper of Eureka, Bertha Smith, Sara Bukowski and brother Theodore, all of the Portland area. Also survived by her son Walter (Dianne), grandchildren Jill and Mark, great grandchildren Alyce and Ellie, by her daughter Milli (Ray) Colaizzi, grandsons David and Jeff and great grandchildren Tyler, Bryce, Mason, Kyla and Emmerson, and by numerous nieces and nephews. For having only completed ninth grade, Dora accomplished a lot. She was a bookkeeper for her husband's logging truck business, then for Blue Lake Drug Store and finally for chiropractor Dr. La Fontaine in Eureka. She loved reading, puzzles, fine music, bowling and crocheting aphgans for family and friends. She also crocheted and donated hundreds of crib blankets and caps to the newborns at local hospitals. Visitation and services are set for Monday, July 2nd 2018 at 10:30am at Paul's Chapel, 1070 H Street, Arcata. Family and friends are also invited to gather the previous evening, Sunday July 1st from 6 to 8pm at the Oriental Buffet in the Valley West shopping center in Arcata. Gratitude is extended to the Petaluma Post-acute Rehab for the kind care given to Dora for the 21 months she spent there and to hospice for making her transition easier. Any contributions may be made to in lieu of flowers. Dora and Ray walked hand in hand for 77 years on this good earth, now they are spending an eternity in the great beyond. May God bless them both.
