George Joseph Laurendeau Born July 18, 1928. George Laurendeau passed peacefully in his sleep on December 16, 2012 due to complications from an aneurysm. George was born in Pleasantville, NJ and was raised in Montr‚al Quebec, Canada. George came to the United Stated in 1955 where he met the love of his life, Jessie (McMillan) Laurendeau. George and Jessie were wed in 1957 and recently celebrated 55 years of marriage on November 8, 2012. George was known as a hard worker who was skilled with his hands, a caring husband, father and friend to all who knew him. George began a career with the Humboldt Co. Department of Public Works before moving the family to Los Angeles in 1961. George and Jessie moved back to Eureka in 1966. George's career over the past 57 years always kept him busy working with his hands, which included; contract painting, working in maintenance for local nursing homes, gas and oil delivery, and working for Pierson Building Center. From 1996, up until the day he passed, George worked for Kramer Properties in Eureka. George spent the past 25 years enjoying many travels with his wife Jessie and multiple trips with friends, visiting his childhood home of Montr‚al, taking trips to Kauai, visiting his children and taking many memorable trips with beloved friends. George impacted countless lives and will always be remembered as a fun loving spirit and a man with a sincere heart. George was a member of both the Elks and Moose Lodge of Eureka. George was preceded in death by his two brothers, Guy and Ena Laurendeau and his two eldest sons, Bill and Mike Laurendeau. George is survived by his loving wife, Jessie, his son and daughter-in-law, Daniel and Reeda Laurendeau (Oregon) ,daughter and son-in-law, Louise and Elliot Pratt (Oklahoma), his sister Mimi Henkes (Oregon), granddaughter Michelle Barnes (Oregon), grandson Roger Mathews and granddaughter Paige Mathews (Oklahoma), granddaughters Shayla and Kelsey Laurendeau (Oregon), and great-grandson Bentley Mathews (Oklahoma), nephew Andre Henkes, niece Denise Coulombe, nephew Jeff Klopp and nieces Karen and Sharon Klopp. The family would like to thank the incredible staff of the Eureka Rehabilitation & Wellness Center for their care and support during George's last days.
