George Thomas Pacheco passed away February 21, 2013 in Eureka, CA of cancer. "Georgie" was born September 5, 1948 in Eureka, CA to George F and Dolores (Lutje) Pacheco. His family resided in Samoa, CA where he attended elementary school and graduated from Arcata High School in 1966. George was drafted in the Army and served active duty in Korea as a crew/gunner on a Chinook Helicopter. On returning home in 1968 he worked for Mark Corliss Construction, then Cascade Forest Products, and then Dave and April Manifold hired him at Eureka-Humboldt Fire Extinguisher and were like second parents to him. He continued there until 2012. In 1985 he married Antoinette (Toni) Bobillot of Fieldbrook, CA. They were married for 28 years. In 1985 his daughter Nicole was born followed by Natalie in 1987. His beloved granddaughter Allyana Dean was born in 2008, who he loved deeply. In December even though he was quite sick he traveled to town to buy her a children's quad for "Santa Claus" to bring. In his youth he belonged to the "Roadtoads" a car club; he was an original "Fonzi". driving his 60 Corvette around town. Most of all George loved fishing, first on Humboldt Bay as a boy, and later on any stream, river or lagoon. He enjoyed salmon fishing and surf fishing on the ocean with his good friend Frank. George was a hard worker and a dedicated family provider. A good neighbor taking care of his neighbors pools, he loved gabbing with Sue and Frank Passatero, and Joe Fraga his long time buddies. George was an avid gardener and loved coming home to the sunshine in Willow Creek. His favorite team was the 49ers and SF Giants. George was very patriotic and believed in individual freedom. George is survived by wife: Toni (Bobillot) Pacheco, Daughters: Nicole Pacheco and Granddaughter Allyana Dean (the joy of his life) of WIllow Creek and Natalie Pacheco of Arcata, CA Brother: Jimmy Pacheco Sister Mary Lynn McKinney (Larry) Mother-in-law: Mary Bobillot Brother-in-laws: Alan, Dave and Andy Bobillot. Nieces/Nephews: Alex and Dan Bobillot, Kendra and Jenna McKinny, Jacob Sundell and son Levi, Brian Romic, Cousins: Harley Capps and Mary Margaret Blain. Uncles Henry and Mike Lutje, and numerous cousins, Friends: Frank and Sue Boyd of Willow Creek, and Joe T. Fraga, of McKinleyville and friends to numerous to name. George was predeceased by his parents, George F. and Dolores Pacheco, Sister Christina Pacheco Nolan and Aunt Bernice Ludke. Memorial Contributions may be made to Toni with firewood, or the Disabled Veterans of America. A potluck celebration of his life will be held on April 6, at the Moose Lodge in McKinleyville.
