John Thomas Larrison

February 21, 1925- January 28, 2011 John Thomas Larrison passed away peacefully on January 28, 2011 with his wife Alverta, son Kevin, and granddaughter Erin by his side. He was born in Garden Grove, California on February 21, 1925. He graduated from high school in Santa Ana, California in 1942 and joined the navy in 1943. While in the Navy, John served in Okinawa as a sonar operator on a mine sweeper. He was a veteran of WWII. After his time in the Navy he worked as a carpenter in Orange County building schools and commercial buildings. John retired in 1978 at age 52 and he and Alverta began what would become 20 years of traveling the United States and Canada in an RV. During those travels they made some very good friends and it was because of those friends that they decided to settle in McKinleyville, California when they were finished traveling in 1999. John is survived by his wife Alverta, son Dennis and his wife Marilyn son Kevin, grandchildren Maria, Erin, Jami, and Matthew, seven great grandchildren, and his sister Ruth Worley.
