June LaBolle Obituary

June, beloved wife, mother and grandmother, passed away on Tuesday, September 7, 2010 at the age of 81. She is survived by her husband, Victor, three sons, David, Michael, and Eric, and one daughter, Diane (Rosa Kiana) Rossi, as well as nine grandchildren. Daniel, Calista, Kristina, Jeremy, Jeffery, Christopher, Tammer, Ramona, Daniel, Andrew. June was born in Detroit, Michigan. She and her husband were born in the same hospital, though as Victor liked to say, "She came late, as usual" (she was five years younger). June and Victor celebrated their sixtieth wedding anniversary in 2009. Together they lived in Washington D.C., and California, and moved to Humboldt County in 1986 to be closer to their adult children. She shared her husband's interest in photography, and together they were among the founding members of the Redwood Camera Club. She also was an avid reader and game player with skills in bridge, crosswords, and soduku. June was always concerned about others and she was extremely generous with all. She donated her time and money to many organizations and people. She took on leadership roles with the PTA, Boy Scouts, Girl Scouts, YMCA, as well as serving as a community organizer. She was a registered Democrat who never failed to vote. Intelligent and thoughtful, her family valued and respected her advice, and she gave it freely. In recent years, health problems caused her to struggle. However, she continued to function as the matriarch of the family she created. She was an excellent cook, and passed on her culinary skills to her daughters in law, Lisa, Kathey and Juana. The family suggests that donations be made to UNICEF (1-800-FOR-KIDS) or a charity of your choice. Please sign the online guestbook at www.times-standard.com, click on obits.
