Mary Leonetta Seghetti Hodge

Obituary Condolences

Mary Leonetta Seghetti Hodge passed away peacefully on October 15, 2012 at the age of 89 to be with her Lord. Mary was born on February 6, 1923 to Raffaelo and Eugenia Seghetti in Worland, Wyoming. Mary was one of fourteen children. She married and they moved to Arcata in 1948. Mary worked at the Arcata Barrel Factory, Lazio's, the old Trinity Hospital, and Humboldt State University. Mary was a loving and devoted wife and mother, and her family meant the world to her. She was known to be a "Rock of Gilbraltar" to her many family and friends. Mary enjoyed doll making, sewing, cooking, ironing, working puzzles, watching western movies, and game shows. She was an avid Shirley Temple collector. One of her more recent joys was going to the Arcata Senior Center and working on quilts with Katy's Krafters along with her daughter, Marge and care providers Steve and Trina Bonaventure. She is survived by her four children: Claude Hodge and special friend Karen Nessler of Arcata, daughters Faye (Lee) Jones of Santa Rosa, Marge Dias of Arcata, Carolyn (Larry) Creek of McKinleyville, her grandchildren: Kevin (Kip) Hodge of Santa Rosa, Keith (Heather) Hodge of Eureka, Sheryl (Kevin) Pelascini of McKinleyville, Phillip (Mary) David of Santa Rosa, John David of Santa Rosa, Sherri (Tim) Blocker of Santa Rosa, Tammy Garcia of Arcata, Tim Gallaty of Arcata, Theresa (Bryan) Stevens of Arcata, Kelly (James) Bronnenberg of Windsor, great grandchildren: Erik Garcia of Eureka, Brian, Nathaniel, Whitney, and Emily Hodge of Eureka, Tyler Pelascini of McKinleyville, Melissa Ralls-Ortiz of Arcata, Jennifer Fragoso of Santa Rosa, 13 other great grandchildren, 16 great great grandchildren, her brother Geno (Lita) Seghetti of Eugene, Oregon, her sister Bruna Sharrow of Lander, Wyoming, great niece Vickie (Mark) Lewis of Richmond, and numerous other nieces and nephews. Mary was preceded in death by her mother and father Raffaelo and Eugenia Seghetti, her husband Herb, grandson Bryan Creek, son in law Joe Dias, great granddaughter Laura Kay Gallaty, and her eleven other siblings. Very special thanks to her wonderful care providers who gave mom back some quality of life: Steve and Trina Bonaventure and Zatha Gray. There will be a viewing from 4:00-8:00 at Paul's Chapel in Arcata on Friday, October 19th and a rosary during that viewing time at 6:30. A memorial/mass service will be held on Saturday, October 20th at Christ the King Catholic Church on 1951 McKinleyville Avenue in McKinleyville at 10:00am with a potluck reception to follow. Care is under the direction of Paul's Chapel. Please sign the guestbook at www.times-standard.com, click on obits.
