Michael Eugene Costello Obituary
MICHAEL EUGENE COSTELLO Our beloved and much missed brother was born on February 15, 1954. Cancer took him from us on March 15, 2018. Mike was born in St. Joseph's Hospital in Eureka. Mike is survived by his siblings: Donald Costello, James Costello, Patrick Costello and Rita Costello, and numerous nieces and nephews. He started his education at the old College Elementary School on the HSC Campus, later he attended St. Mary's Catholic School on Janes Road. He was very athletic and enjoyed many sports; starting with Pop Warner Football and Little League Baseball. He continued those sports and others thru his years at Arcata High School where he earned "Letters" in all the sports he played. After high school Mike attended the College of the Redwoods, where he again excelled in sports, earning 'Letters" and Hall of Fame recognition. During his high school years he developed a love for motocross motorcycle riding. He developed that skill by "borrowing" his older brother's motorcycle. The now defunct Banana Slug Motocross Race that was held on Simpson Lumber property was Mike's first racing experience. It introduced him to off road motorcycle racing, a sport that he loved dearly, and participated in until the time he passed away. Through it he met many new people who became valued friends. Friends and relatives are invited to join us in Celebrating Mike's Life, on June 23, 2018 at the Six Rivers Brewery (former Bella Vista Restaurant) from 11:30am to 3:00pm. Pictures and antidotes you may have of Mike would be welcomed. For more details contact Rita at: ritascarousel@aol.com. Please sign the guestbook at www.times-standard.com
