Nancy Ann Nordstom Ambrosini died peacefully at home in Fieldbrook on Friday November 15th, 2013 surrounded by family and friends following a battle with breast cancer. Nancy was born in Eureka on October 26th, 1953 to parents Ray and Alda Nordstom. Nancy attended Sacred Heart Elementary and St. Bernard High School followed by a cosmetology course at Fredrick and Charles Beauty School. Nancy was married to David Ambrosini on November 10th, 1973. She was recently predeceased by her beloved father Ray, her sister-in-law Debbie and her grandmother Julia (Vo). She leaves behind her mother Alda, brother Rod, husband David, cherished children Jedd (Melissa), Paul (Anda), and Laura and her beloved grandchildren Justin, Cody and Ryan. Family and friends meant the world to Nancy. She was happiest when surrounded by them or doing something kind for them. Nancy was the ultimate mother to her own children as well as to their friends. Nancy made Laura beautiful clothing and Halloween costumes. She was a very enthusiastic attendee of her children's various sporting events. She was a member and sometime leader of various groups including Fieldbook 4-H, Fieldbrook Booster Club, The graduation and prom committees for both Fieldbrook school and Mckinleyville High school. Nancy's expertise in sewing grew into a love of quilting. She was an active member of both Moonstone Quilt Guild and Redwood Empire Quilt Guild, winning the Viewers Choice Award in the REQG quilt challenge in 2011. She submitted quilts to the REQG quilt show every other year and was honored to make a block depicting the Orick schoolhouse for the REQG Humboldt heritage quilt in 2012. Her quilts were prepared with her usual care and attention. Nancy was a very generous colleague and friend, sharing her knowledge, skill and caring. She was a member of a small quilting group that gathered for quilt retreats multiple times per year for the past eight years. Nancy was a member for the past 20 years of the Fieldbrook Bunco Babes. No one was a stranger to Nancy for long as her heart was open and inviting to all. She will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved her.
