April 10, 1924 to July 29, 2012 Dick was born Richard Howard Osier on April 10, 1924 to Howard Glenn Osier and Blanche Catherine Gay in Deming, WA. He served in WW2 as a heavy equipment operator at El Toro Marine base. He met Ruth Irene Cook at her parents business Cook's Corner in El Toro, Ca. They were married for over 50 years when Ruth passed away in 2000. Dick is survived by his two sons Michael S. Osier from Redding, and James R. (& Deborah) Osier from Eureka, as well as 6 grandchildren: Michael, Rachel (& Gene Bass), Andrew, Jacob (& Angela), Jessica and Aaron Osier; and 7 great grandchildren: Ryan, Logan, Mason and Brandon Bass, Austin, Haley and AJ Osier. Dick went to work at the age of 14 and soon after began his truck driving career. In 1952, shortly after his stint with the Marines, he brought his family to Humboldt County to work in the logging industry. After driving his log truck and selling auto parts for many years he and Ruth moved to Redding. They made their final home near the airport and were avid flyers. Much loved father, grandfather and friend, Dick will leave a hole in the hearts of those who loved him. Memorial services will be held at 1:00 pm on Saturday, August 4th at Allen & Dahl Funeral Chapel, 2655 Eureka Way in Redding, CA.
