Roy Conley Obituary

Passed away peacefully on Oct. 1, 2010 at his home in Burnt Ranch, CA with family by his side. He was born Oct. 4, 1927 to Cleveland & Belle Conley in Oakdale, Louisiana. He is survived by his loving wife Edna Mae Brooks Conley and his children T.C Sykes (Eva), Martha Reeves (Chuck), Walter Conley, Dianne Conley, Marissa Minton (Sam), Michael Conley (Mary), Veralei Alves (Michael), David Conley (Vicki), & Stacey Moore. Twenty-Eight Grandchildren and many, many Great-Grandchildren. He also leaves behind his two dogs Henry Pease and Casey who miss him terribly, and many other family members and special friends Odlie Stockman & Nucki Stalsby. Roy was preceded in death by his parents & siblings. Roy served in the Army from 1946-1950 he served at Lake Charles Louisiana, Camp Hood, Texas. Ft. Lawton, Washington, Japan & Ft. Belvour, Virginia where he wound the 8 day clock at the Washington Monument. He was with the A17 Armored Engineers Battalion and the 584th Engineers Construction GP Survey Crew. Roy was an Ironworker in local 377 & 710 for 29 years. He loved his job and worked on numerous bridges and metal buildings throughout the states including the Golden Gate Bridge and the Ruth Dam. He was also a member of the Burnt Ranch Volunteer fire department. Oakdale was always home to Daddy but for the past 18 years he called Burnt Ranch home. The family would like to thank Dr. Norman Bensky & staff for all their care & support. At the families request their will be no services, a celebration of his life will be done at a late date. Aunt Edna and cousins: We are so very sorry for your loss of Uncle Roy. We loved him very much. He was such a sweet man and will always remember that wonderful smile of his. I am so thankful that Vera and Mike were able to bring him to Oakdale for his one last visit and he was able to see so many of his cousins. We love y'all and you are in our prayers. Hopefully, we will still see you sometime in the future.

Aunt Edna and cousins: We are so very sorry for your loss of Uncle Roy. I am so thankful that Vera & Mike brought him home for one last visit. Norma Sue gave me some pictures from the family get together they had for y'all. He reminded me so much of my daddy. He was such a sweetheart. I will never forget his wonderful smile. I can still see him smiling when I close my eyes. We love all of you and hope to see you in the future
