Ruben Francis Tarelli a resident of Ferndale, died in Fortuna on January 21, 2013 at the age of 88. Ruben was born May 29, 1924 in the Gingerbread Mansion in Ferndale. He graduated from Coffee Creek Elementary in 1938 and from Ferndale High in 1942. After graduation he joined the Army Air Corp where he served during World War II until his discharge in 1945. He then returned to Ferndale and worked for International Harvester, which became Peers Motor Sales, as Service Manager and Head Mechanic for 40 years. Ruben is survived by his wife Ruthe Tarelli of Ferndale; sons Guy Tarelli (Dorothy) of Hidden Valley Lake and Rocky McCovey (Barbara) of Eureka; daughters Joanne McCovey Duggan of Eureka, Holly Saucier (Allan) of Ceres; grandchildren, Tyler, Tanner and Tate Tarelli, Renee, Bradley and Sherri McCovey, Robin Shower and Scott Saucier. He is also survived by his sister Elyse Bailey (Glen) of Scotts Valley and by his nieces and nephews, Denise Rogers of Eureka, Clark Keeney of Eureka and Kevin Tarelli of Scotts Valley. He was preceded in death by his parents Gaetano Tarelli and Margerita Manzi Tarelli; sister Anne Keeney, brother Art Tarelli and by his son Brian McCovey. At Ruben and the families request no services will be held. Arrangements are under the care of Humboldt Cremation and Funeral Service.
