SAMUEL RUEL McCREA Sam passed away of heart disease on November 7, 2016 in Burien, Washington. Sam was born August 27, 1959 in Eureka, CA at the Old General Hospital. Sam was a big man with an even bigger heart. Some called him a Big Teddy Bear others the Gentle Giant. Whatever he was called it was always with respect. Sam grew up in Blue Lake attending Blue Lake Elementary School, then on to Arcata High School where he played basketball. Most of Sam's working years were spent driving truck. Some of those companies are Alto Bros., Foster Bros., Dairy Gold, and Country Classic. Then he started working in the office at Dairy Gold and Estenson Logistics. Sam is survived by the love of his life Jenny who he always had such faith in. He is also survived by his four children: Patrick (Steph) of Washington, Chayse (Katie) of Montana, Samantha (Kevin) of Oregon, and C.J. of Oregon. He leaves his sister Mary (Rick) of Nevada, sister Tammie of Alaska, and brother Robert (Holly) of Nevada; as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Sam was well thought of by his mother and father-in-law Bonnie and Tom Learmouth. Sam was preceded in death by his parents Loretta and Robert McCrea of Blue Lake, and his grandparents Gladys Glatti and Sam McCrea both of Hoopa. Condolences can be sent to Jennifer McCrea, 425 S. 156th Street, Burien WA 98148. A memorial will be planned this coming summer and a notice will be posted in the newspaper at that time with more information. Please sign the guestbook at www.times-standard.com

I send condolences to Sam's family. I was at school with the McCrea's and ran around Blue Lake with my Step Aunts. Spent lots of time at the skating rink, play grounds and then at the sports games in High School. You know when people are always there and they are part of a group you remember, that was how it was back then. E & O bowl, and all the stuff kids do in a small town and then in high school comes the separation of grades but you still know people. It was a fun time and the people leave lasting marks on your soul.
Rest In Peace Sam. I will keep your siblings in my thoughts and Prayers.
To Jenny, I am very sorry for the loss of your other half of you, your soul, your life. May you find the strength to persevere for your children and yourself. Celebrate your life and love of Sam and know he is the type of person that will always be remembered.
Blessings,
Marie Haney

I remember you with little children, yours and your nieces and nephews crawling all over you on Sunday afternoons in blue lake. I remember your easy smile and kind words for my aweful cooking. You would even ask for seconds. I remember how sleepy you looked, when you came to the door, years ago, But you would pick McKenzie up and spin her around and around. I remember you beside Robert in the church as I walked towards him so many years ago. You were very kind to me. I will miss you. Rest In Peace, Sam,
