Sarah Stannard Obituary

Sarah "Joyce" Stannard, lost her fight with an aggressive cancer on August 13, 2010. Joyce was born in Sonoma, California on August 27, 1949. She moved with her parents (Bob and Ita King) and sisters (Roberta and Lynda) to Northern California when she was ten years old. She was a graduate of Del Norte High School in 1966. Joyce moved out of the north coast when she married Charles "Chuck" Stannard in 1979. They were stationed in Australia and then in San Diego in 1981 where they started their family (Bob and Jennifer). They were transferred to Ferndale in 1989 and set up a home and continued to live, love, and worship. Joyce was the happiest when her family and friends were around her. She enjoyed square dancing, "oldies" rock and roll, doing crafts, traveling, and was a devoted "All My Children" soap fan. She loved Elvis, Princess Di, and Pope John Paul. Joyce had several occupations during her lifetime, but loved being a mother and wife the best. She was a volunteer at the schools, and was a member of several service groups; ABWA, Ferndale Garden Club, Soroptimist International of Eel River Valley, and the Catholic Church. She will be sincerely missed by many in the community. Her immediate family include: Ita King, Chuck Stannard, Bob Stannard, Jennifer Stannard, and her fianc‚ Kyle Pollex, Lynda and Mike Mealue, Roberta King, Jeremy and Kim Stannard, and their children Rei and Riley Stannard, Molly and Eric Sherman, Rick and Cathy Stannard, Debra Scott, Cheryl Sanders, "Mouse" the cat, and numerous other relations and loving friends.
