Suzanne Mullen Obituary

54, of Fortuna, California, became another angel of the Lord on September 23, 2010. Sue was taken from us too suddenly, but her spirit will forever remain in the hearts of those she touched. She was born in Ukiah, CA on April 22, 1956 and was the only daughter of Faith Platt. Raised in love by her mother and grandmother "Meme", she went to Santa Cruz High School and continued onto San Jose State. All of her dreams became a reality the moment she became a mother to her two daughters, Sarah and Hannah. Sue was first and foremost a Mom. She was "Mama Sue" not just to her own children, but also to anyone who needed her. She believed being a Mom was her reason for being. She always said, "The moment I held Sarah in my arms, I knew why God made me." Her daughters were her whole world and she will live on through them. Her second passion was performing. She was frequently seen on the stages of Humboldt county, always adding a special spark (and a little bit of glitter) to each production she did. She loved to sing and finally received her degree in vocal performance from Humboldt State. Music remained an important part of her daily life. She performed with Piano Voce, Ferndale Community Choir, The Six Rivers Choral Artists, and many others as well as being the choir director of the Calvary Lutheran Church. Sue was a shining star that burned so brightly that one couldn't help but be moved by her enchanting smile and sparkling eyes. Susie is survived by her mother, Faith Platt, her daughters Sarah Mullen and Hannah Mullen-Jones, her son-in-law Matthew Jones and her grandson Michael Jones. A memorial service will be held at Calvary Lutheran Church, 716 South Ave, Eureka on September 28, 2010 at 2:00 pm. Arrangements under the care of Goble's Fortuna Mortuary, Fortuna, Ca. Sarah and Hannah
My fondest memory of your Mom was the joy and pride that showed on her face when she watched you perform or when she talked about you. No one could miss how much she loved you both; what joy you brought to her life. I am praying for you and your family.

I will always remember Sue as a bright, cheerful and enthusiastic woman. She sang in several productions in which I was priveleged to be included. It always amazed me that given her down-to-earth demeanor, when she opened her mouth to sing, the voice that came out was the voice of an angel.

She will be sorely missed by all who knew her. My prayers are with the girls and the rest of the family.

I know how weak and fruitless it must be any words of mine which should attempt to beguile you from the grief of a loss so overwhelming. But I do pray that our Heavenly Father may assuage the anguish of your bereavement, and leave you only the cherished memory of the loved and lost, and the solemn pride that must be yours to have had a mother such Suzanne Mullen. May she rest in Peace…
Very Sincerely and Respectfully,

Faith, Sarah, Hannah and family: Sue was a very "special person" and a wonderfully delightful woman to know and I am so thankful that I had not only the privilege to know & admire her but to be able to sing under her direction. I will truly miss seeing that beautiful red hair, her wonderful smile and hearing that absolutely gorgeous voice. My condolences are with you all.
