Virginia Melara Obituary

February 16, 1930- September 20, 2010 Virginia Melara "NANA" was born Feb 16 1930 to Mary Melvina Wright and Edwin Lyman Keen in Topeka Kansas. Virginia passed away in her home On September 20 with her husband of 43 years and her son, Michael, by her side. She was preceded in death by her sisters Delores Campilo and Josephine Martinez and her brother William Keen. She was survived by her sisters Mary Thompson, Julia (Flo) Pini, Jeanine Kim and all twelve of her children: Mark Bluthardt, Marsha Becker, Dan Bluthardt, Amy Tobiness, Mitch Bluthardt, Phillip Bluthardt, Michael Bluthardt, Thomas Doyle, Melissa Then, Jaime Doyle, Chris Doyle and Stacey Young. Virginia met and married the love of her life, Tito Melara, in San Francisco in 1966 and moved to Eureka in 1971 where she raised her children and a good number of her over 53 grandchildren and great grand children. Virginia's heart was as big as her family and she loved the Lord. His words were always on her lips and in her heart. Her ministry was the way she lived her life. Her church was her kitchen. There were always cookies in a jar, cakes on the counter, and handmade tortillas any time; day or night. Everyone was always welcome, and there was enough food and love for all who came. As the matriarch of a giant family Virginia "Nana" left behind a legacy of unconditional love and acceptance. She will be missed by all the lives she has touched. Services will be held Saturday September 25th at 11 a.m. at First Calvary church in Fields Landing. All are welcome to join our family in celebrating her life. I know I lost contact so many years ago and thats something I regret:( I am so sorry to hear Virginia is gone I remember all the fun we use to have at your house in SF and Eureka. She was the kindest woman I have ever known and always treated me as one of her own. You all were my family and to me still are:) I so wish I had of kept in contact. I love you all and wish I could be there at this time. I miss you all so much and think of you often. Love Kerry Tabor (Stobaugh) [email protected] (would love to hear from any of you:)

Im sorry to hear that Virginia has died. Out of all my moms friends she was my favorite. I'll never forget how she always was helping us out. Taking my mom to Roseburg Oregon to visit my dad at the rest home. She came over when I called her to drag my mom to the hospital when she was having a massive heart attack&wouldn't go to the hospital. She always came by to pick mom up to go to bingo or poker. She was one of the most understanding person I have ever met. I last saw Virginia march or april 2009. She got to meet my future husband which thrilled Virginia to no end since everyone thought id never marry. Now that Virginia&Tove are together in heaven their differences are gone and everything is forgiven. May Virginia rest in peace.
