Beverly Trinidad Granberg On January 3rd, 2014, Beverly Trinidad Granberg died at home unexpectedly of natural causes in her sleep. Beverly, (Bev as she was called by her friends and family), was born September 14th, 1952. Through her mother and father, Clairice Childs and Whitey Curtice, she had 3 brothers, Barney, Vernon, and Roger, and one sister, Linda. When her father re-married, she got two more brothers and two more sisters; Tim, Rick, Karen, and Kim. When her mother re-married, she got 3 more sisters, Arlene, Marlene, Eileen, and another brother, Mitchell Ragain. A large family! Beverly married Frederick Gordon Granberg on January 8th, 1969. They had their only child Harold Lee Granberg 9 months later. She was blessed by the surprise of 3 grandchildren, and one step grandchild; Sarah, Matthew, Ashton, and Jordan. She loved being a grandmother, and enjoyed making things for them. With her large family, she had many friends all over California and Oregon. She was a hairdresser professionally for over 30 years, and still, though plagued by the pain of arthritis, enjoyed cutting some friends and families hair occasionally. She had a passion for crocheting, and enjoyed sewing too. Art seemed to come naturally for her, as she even partook in the Yurok Indian practice of basket weaving. As a proud member of the Yurok tribe, Bev enjoyed sharing the tribe's culture. Beverly lived in Arcata, California most of her life, although she also lived in Orick, Delhi, and Whittier, Anchorage, Alaska, and Portland, Oregon. Through the years, Beverly maintained an active relationship with all of her families, the Ragains of McKinleyville, the Curtices of Arcata/Eureka/Delhi, the Secors of Orick, and the Granbergs of Portland. She was lovingly known as "Aunt Bev", to most everyone, mostly because she had so many nieces and nephews whom she loved. While living with her sister Linda in Arcata, she frequented the casinos often with her brothers Roger, and Barney. She loved doing things with her family, be it taking each other to Dr's appointments, family get-togethers, or . . . . the casinos. She was preceded in death by her Mom and Dad, brother Vernon, and husband Gordon Granberg. A memorial will be held Friday, 31 January, 2014, 1:00 P.M., Pauls Chapel, 1070 H Street, Arcata, CA 95521, 707-822-5148. Please sign the guestbook at www.times-standard.comand click on obits.
