Ruth Evelyn Wilson Ruth Evelyn Wilson, lovingly called Grandma Ruth by many, passed away to be with her Lord on Saturday, July 5, 2014, in her sleep. She was 86 years old and resided in Rio Dell with her son and daughter in law. She was the youngest of 5 children, born in Redding February 5, 1928, to Inigo Jones and Elsie Belle (Worley) Jones. Her father had passed away before she was born, and since she was born on her brother Leslie's birthday, he was allowed to name her. She grew up in the Redding area and attended schools there. After high school she came to Humboldt Co. to attend college but decided to go to work at the old Kress store on F St. in Eureka after a year. She met her husband, Frank Rich Wilson Jr., while working there and they were married on March 20, 1948. They had 2 children, Donna & Frank III, and lived in Samoa where Frank Jr. was employed as an electrician for the "Hammond Lumber Company". Frank Jr. was killed in an accident in 1954 and Ruth eventually bought a house in Eureka and started working as a clerk for the Assessors' office. She retired after 35 years and began a new career volunteering as librarian for New Life Christian School (NLCS) in Fortuna. She loved to sew and knit and did many sewing projects for others. She faithfully attended and was a member of Life House Church (Calvary Christian Center) in Fortuna and was loved by everyone who knew her. She was predeceased by her parents, husband, and 3 of her siblings: John Leslie Jones, Mary E. Strawn, and Elsie May Houle. She is survived by one sibling: her sister Maude E. (Yancey) Meyer, who is 90 years old and resides in Davis, CA , her children: Donna Marie Sylvestre (Richard) and Frank Rich Wilson III (Jolon), 2 grandchildren: Peter Wilson (Mellisa) and Mary Pape (Casey), and 3 great grandchildren: James Allan Pape, Andrew Frank Pape, and Lily Ruth Wilson. A service celebrating her life will be held on Saturday, July 26, 2014, 11:00 a.m., at Life House Fortuna, located at 1736 Newburg Rd. in Fortuna. There will be a potluck reception immediately following the service at the church. Please make memorial donations to New Life Christian School, 1202 Ross Hill Rd., Fortuna, CA 95540.
