Obituary Condolences

EDWARD RAY WEEKLY Edward, 63, of Eureka, California, passed away at home on Sunday, February 21, 2010 after a long, hard fought battle with cancer. He was born June 1, 1946 in Eureka, California. A 1964 Graduate of Eureka High School, where he was an all-star athelete and Homecoming King. He was a decoder for National Defense for the US NAVY in 1965. Ed loved spending time with his family, animals, taking photographs of anything and everything, and traveling. He especially loved attending his grandchildren's sporting events where he enjoyed pointing out every bad call that the officials made. Ed was preceded in death by his parents Ralph & Viola Joppas, as well as numerous aunts & uncles. He is survived by two brothers; Mike Weekly of Lodi, California, Ronnie Davis of Eureka, California, and sister Phyllis Scott of Valpariso, Indiana. He is also survived by seven children; Jodi Woodhouse, Michael, Brian, Mickie, Valerie, and Ral Weekly, Janean Embree, and a special daughter-in-law, Heather Weekly, along with his 12 grandchildren; Logan Woodhouse, Bryan Posey, Shane, Trace, Mercedes, Cheyenne, and Mariah Weekly, Logan, Cole, and Lauren Weekly-Wilson, and Everett & Erica Embree. Just talking about his grandchildren brought a smile to his face and put a sparkle in his eyes. Throughout his battle with cancer, Ed never lost his sense of humor. In fact, he said his obituary should read....ED WEEKLY....DIED. Our Dad will be greatly missed and we pray that God will give us a small amount of the strength that he lived with everyday. He will forever live in our hearts and will be loved and remembered always. Rest in peace Dad, we can't wait to see you again. At Ed's request, no services will be held. There will be a celebration of his life held in his honor, the details of which will be announced at a later date. Please sign the guestbook at www.Times-Standard.com. Click on obits.
