Armstrong 1981 - 2012 David Thomas Armstrong passed away on Wednesday, February 8, 2012. He was born June 22, 1981 in Bellingham, Washington to Gary Wayne and Mary Ann (Bertels) Armstrong. A love of camping and exploring found David most comfortable in an outdoor setting. As a child, David struggled to learn to read then became an avid reader. He enjoyed a good book regardless of genre, but science fiction fantasy, historical novels and mythology were his favorites. In addition to the outdoors, David shared a love of classic rock, the blues, and old country music with his father. David faced many struggles, yet at the most elemental level he had what is truly important: family and friends who loved him, food in his stomach, a place to sleep without fear, dry socks and new boots, -- and tobacco. David is survived by his mother; his brother, Bruce; sister, Brenda; brother, Joseph; nephew, Tobias; neice, Sarabi; two grandmothers, Gloria Armstrong and Jeanne Bertels; and numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins. David also leaves behind many good friends; among them Mandi Jackson, Sheldon Owen, Cherrie Best, Ron Coyne, Miles, Mike Rager, Shorty, Addison Martinez, Daniel Pacheco, the rest of the Track family, and Susie Van Kirk. His father and grandfathers, Bruce Armstrong and Charles Bertels, preceded him in death. To honor David's love of camping and Armstrong family tradition, there will be a gathering of family and friends to remember him on the weekend of August 4 -5, 2012 at the family river campsite. Memorials may be made to the charity or community organization of your choice. Please sign the guestbook at www.times-standard.com Click on obits.
