Andrea Lawrence Andrea Lawrence, age 67, died peacefully December 8, 2012 at her home in McKinleyville, California. Andrea was born January 15, 1945, in Duluth, Minnesota. She grew up on a farm near Rice Lake, Wisconsin, the daughter of Lawrence and Irene Rogstad. She attended Meadow Creek grade school, a one-room country school, then graduated from Rice Lake High School in 1963. On February 15, 1964, Andrea married David Mathew "Matt" Beets, her high school sweetheart. They moved to Milwaukee, Wisconsin, then to the Chicago area. Andrea was employed as a secretary for many years. She earned a Bachelor of Science degree from Northern Illinois University, DeKalb, Illinois, in 1976. Following her husband's job promotion, the couple moved to Fullerton, California in 1976. In 1979 they moved to Eureka, California, where they owned and operated a Midas auto repair franchise. Andrea earned a Master's Degree in Business from Humboldt State University in Arcata, California, in 1985. After the death of her husband in 1996, Andrea continued to operate the Midas shop on her own until being forced to retire in 2006 due to illness. In 2001, Midas International named her the "Best of the Best," one of the Top 10 small market Midas franchisees in the country. Andrea was active in the community, serving on the Private Industry Council, as a tutor and board member of the Humboldt Literacy Project, and was a member of the Rotary Club of South-west Eureka. Andrea will be remembered for her sense of humor and enthusiasm for life. She loved to travel, having toured all 50 states, Mexico and Europe. She also loved to read, garden, play the piano and watch football. She was an avid Green Bay Packers fan. Andrea is survived by her brother and his wife, Dan and Lynda Rogstad of Long Lake, Wisconsin; one nephew, Mark (Paula) Rogstad and four nieces; Gail (Tom) Sauerman, Audrey (Jim) Kusilek, Amy (Jim) Sauerman, and Corinne (Shawn) Moore. A Celebration of Life will be held in Rice Lake, Wisconsin at a later date. In Andrea's memory, please adopt a homeless dog or cat, or contribute to an animal rescue organization.
