Roy Denver Drain At the age of 91, Roy Denver Drain passed away unexpectedly on Christmas Eve. He was born on February 15, 1921 in Patrick, Arkansas the sixth of eight children. Roy grew up in the depression and worked hard to support his mother and family. After working for a year with the Civilian Conservation Corps., Roy migrated to the west coast. He worked a number of jobs from Southern California through Oregon and Washington. In early 1943, Roy enlisted in the Navy and served throughout the remainder of the war in the South Pacific. After receiving his honorable discharge he began a long logging career falling timber in Southern Oregon and Northern California. He retired from Arcata Redwood Company in 1976. Roy leaves behind his wife of 65 years Erba, his daughter Linda (Gary) Bird of Eureka, son Roger (Sue) Drain of Salem Oregon, grandchildren Kelly Bird of Sacramento, Jeff (Rachael) Bird of Blue Lake, Cullen and Tanner Drain of Salem and great grandson Augustus Denver Bird. Roy was a private man of few words who took great pride in supporting and being there for his family and honoring their individual achievements. At his request, there will be no services.
