Joyce MacCallum Her friends called her "Joycee," which was an appropriate nickname since her main goal in life was to "see joy" in the world around her and to help others "see joy" as well. Joyce not only loved nature, such as her beloved kitties, dogs, gardening and walking at the bird sanctuary and the botanical gardens, but she was also able to connect the world in a way that most people will never understand. Through energy work, Joyce was able to help people on every level mentally, emotionally, spiritually and physically. Joyce helped so many people, that the world IS literally a better place for her being in it. And, so it was, that she left this earth, after a 2-year battle with cancer, being helped by a wonderful team of people who had been brought together by her amazing strength, courage, joy, and talent. And in her leaving, she created a new community of love and strength that will extend out into the world and make it a better place. Joyce came into this world on January 22nd, 1960 and left us on November 29th, 2012 at her home, surrounded by her beloved kitties and dear friends, just like she wished. Joyce was born in Santa Rosa, California to Betty June MacCallum and John Edward MacCallum, Jr., both deceased. She is survived by three brothers, Douglas, Michael and John (sister-in-law, Theresa) and one sister, Cathy, and nieces and nephews - Jeremy, Joshua, John IV, Melanie, Rebecca, Bridget, Katie, Michaela, Michael Jr., and Scott and many dear friends. She attended Santa Rosa High School, then moved to the North Coast to earn a teaching credential at Humboldt State University. She loved children and worked as a preschool teacher before embracing her calling as an Energy Medicine Practitioner. Joyce has forever enriched the lives of her family and friends and she will be missed. A Celebration of Joyce's life will be held on Saturday, January 12th, from 10:45 am to 12:30 pm at Immanuel Lutheran Church, 3230 Harrison St., Eureka, CA. Please come to share wonderful memories of Joyce! Please sign the guestbook at www.times-standard.com, click obits. In lieu of flowers, we think "Joycee" would love it, if in her honor, you went out and spread some joy on this day, and perhaps every day after that.
