JOANNE MARIE GRAVES CARTER 71, entered into eternal rest on Wednesday December 26 2012. Joanne was preceded in death by her parents Ogden and Ann Graves, and her husband James L. Carter. Born January 18, 1941 in Washington. James and Joanne were married September 1961. Joanne Graduated from Arcata High School in 1959. Joanne attended Humboldt State University and College of the Redwoods. She worked for the Eureka City Schools Food Services at Alice Birney, Jefferson, Worthington, and Lincoln Elementary Schools for 40 years. Joanne was very active in the California Schools Food Services Association. Joanne is survived by her children, Elizabeth Carter-Lorig (Eureka), James W. Carter (King Salmon), Sister Joyce Rutledge (Murritta,CA) and Brother Charles Graves (WA); Brother in Law Lee Rutledge, Sister in Law Isalee Graves; Son in Law Mike Lorig and Daughter in Law Linda Carter. Joanne will also be missed by her grandchildren; Brandon Lovfald (Butte Falls,Or), Keri & Patrick Mixon (Chicago,IL), Jaelen Carter-Lorig (Eureka), Jeremy Carter (Bakersfield,CA), Christopher & Carmen Carter (Bakersfield,CA), Sonya Carter (Eureka) and Travis Carter (Bakersfield,CA); Tim and Becky Lorig (Salt Lake City,Utah) and Maggie Tice (Eureka) and Casey Tice; 6 great grandchildren, and her many cousins, especially Dorothy Johnson. Joanne had the pleasure of taking a cruise to Alaska with Joyce and Lee; and a trip to Europe. Her granddaughters and their friends will remember the many formal dresses sewn for many of their Rainbow Assembly activities.
