Robert A. Calkins was born on July 31, 1949 and passed away unexpectedly on February 3, 2013. Bob had worked in the Education field as an Assistant Superintendent, Business Services for 25 years retiring from Escondido Union High School District in 2005. Bob is survived by his wife, Georgia Calkins. He was a wonderful father to Robert and Vanessa Calkins, Tennessee; Lindsey and Scott Irving, Eureka, California; and Rachel Calkins currently attending college in Norfolk, Virginia; he was a loving and proud "Papa Bob" to Gracie and Aidan Irving of Eureka, CA. He is also survived by his mother, Arlene Calkins of Anaheim, CA; siblings, Kim Calkins, Debbie Hill, Andy Calkins, and, Karen Bowen; in-laws, John Sulser, Kay Shaw, Glenda Hay, Brenda Fulk, Lori Weaver and Louise Sulser along with any nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Bob also leaves behind his best friend and "brother" Craig Bybee and family. He was preceded in death by his son, Michael Brian Calkins; father, Robert L. Calkins; father and mother in-laws, George and Thetis Sulser. Bob loved children, travelling, sports, the outdoors, astronomy, old movies, history, learning, cooking, popcorn, poker, and card games. He never met a stranger. He lived life to the fullest. His quick wit and charm will be missed by many. A memorial service was held for Bob on Saturday, February 9, 2013 at Warm Springs Middle School, 39245 Calle de Fortuna, Murrieta, CA.
