LOREN ABBOTT, SR. Loving husband, father and Papa. Loren was born in Eureka, CA December 31, 1935 and passed away in Roseville, CA on April 9, 2013 after living 77 wonderful adventurous years. Loren graduated from Humboldt State University with a BS degree in Industrial Arts. It was there, that he met the love of his life, Shirley Samuelson. They married in 1957 and just recently celebrated their 56th wedding anniversary. Loren began his newspaper career at the Arcata Union at the young age of 10. He was in the newspaper business for over 50 years. Loren was known for his skill, creativity and passion for helping businesses achieve their goals through advertising and promotion. Loren's career spanned many communities and newspapers. While residing in Arcata, Loren was a member of the Arcata Volunteer Fire Department and past President of the Jaycees. Loren is survived by his wife Shirley; his son Loren Abbott Jr. and wife Didier; daughter Lori Brown and husband Robert; his daughter Lisa Smoot and husband Mike; daughter Leslie Coe and husband Dan. He is also survived by his grandchildren Brandon Abbott; Britney, Cameron and Cody Brown; Jacob and Aaron Smoot. Loren was known for his big heart and love for people. He loved tinkering around his shop and woodworking. He also loved getting out and playing golf with friends and family. We will be celebrating his life on April 28, 2013 at the Clubhouse at Diamond K Estates in Roseville, CA.
