Dennis Ray Macomber 1942 - 2013 Dennis Ray Macomber, 71, passed away September 21, 2013, in Auburn, California. Born in Dunning, Nebraska in 1942, he spent the majority of his life in Arcata. Dennis, however did move to Foresthill, California in 2004, to live out his retirement in the Sierra Nevada Foothills. Coming up on their 49th year of marriage to his wife Sally, Dennis was a family man first. Pulling the RV across the country on family vacations and family picnics were just a few things that he loved. Dennis had a strong passion for sports. He particularly loved to play baseball and basketball. He played for one of Arcata's very first little league teams and continued playing though high school. He graduated in 1960 from Arcata High. He enjoyed playing senior softball in his 50's and 60's. Dennis also loved the outdoors, he couldn't be happier whether he was deer hunting with his buddies or on a lake fishing in his boat. Dennis was also a Vietnam Veteran where he served his country proudly. Dennis was preceded in death by his parents, Mainard and Faye Macomber. He survived by his wife Sally Macomber, sister Connie Lough, niece Kim Plato, daughter Renee Radley and son in-law Mike Radley, son Dan Macomber. 4 grandchildren, Michael and Madelyn Radley, and Rilee and Landen Macomber A celebration of Dennis' life will be held on Saturday Oct. 26 at 2021 Simmons Rd, Eureka from 2:00-5:00, For any more info or questions call Connie at 443-3546.
