Richard H. Kibby

BARRE - A celebration of the life of Richard Hale Kibby, 88, of Onward Street, was held Sunday, Sept. 22, 2013, at 12:30 p.m. in the East Brookfield Community Church. He died Sept. 19, 2013, at his home.

A Masonic Service was conducted by members of the Mystic Star Phoenix Masonic Lodge 97 of Brookfield. The Worshipful Master was Guy Waldo, the Chaplain was Eaton Snow, Senior Warden was Roger Palmer, and Junior Warden was Bryan Locke.

The Rev. David Vanderlinde-Abernathy led the funeral service. Organist Christine Litchfield accompanied the congregation in the hymns, "Rock of Ages," "Amazing Grace," and "Be Not Afraid," and Rev. Vanderlinde-Abernathy in the hymn, "In the Bulb, There Is a Flower."

Readings from the Old and New Testaments were given by granddaughter, Luciann Rouleau and niece, Nancy Frisk. Words of remembrance were offered by son, Robert Jarvis. The readings, "Bridge of Love," "I Believe," and "I'm Free," were by Richard's granddaughters, Laura Jarvis, Heather Boulanger, and Tricia Haldane.

Interment took place in the East Brookfield Cemetery, with Rev. Vanderlinde-Abernathy offering the committal prayers. The bearers were Richard's grandsons, Richard Dickinson, Kim Dickinson, Raymond Corriveau Jr., Loren Lunt, Christopher Jarvis, and Randall Sweet.

Military honors were accorded the deceased by the Vermont Army National Guard Military Funeral Honors Team. "Taps" was played and the flag was folded and presented to his children.

Following the services, family and friends gathered in the Church Fellowship Hall for a time of sharing memories and refreshments.
