BARRE - Anne Elizabeth Fleming-Hogan passed away on Sept. 7, 2018. She was born in Manhattan, New York, on May 27, 1965, the daughter of Seamus and Elizabeth Fleming.
Anne graduated from U-32 High School and Lyndon State College with a bachelor's degree in human services and counseling.
On May 23, 1992, she married Brendan Hogan in Montpelier. They celebrated 26 years of marriage and 30 years together this past summer.
In addition to being a wife and mother, she worked in many different public service and human service positions over the past 30 years, including Burlington High School Special Education, Champlain Vocational Services, Transitional Housing Services, Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Vermont, Waterbury Village Library, Aldrich Library, Capstone Preschool and most recently, at Barre City Elementary Preschool.
Anne leaves behind many friends, from both work and school, with whom she shared happy times and events through her life. Family and friends were integral to her life and she leaves behind several lifelong friends with whom she shared years of laughter, joy and a deep connection. She liked to garden, cook, travel and spend time with family and friends and especially, with her husband and three children. Her sense of humor and smile was something people close to her will never forget and truly miss.
Anne is survived by her mother, Elizabeth, of Berlin; and also survived by her husband, Brendan, and their three children Liam, Cellan and Eamon Hogan, of Barre. She will be dearly missed by her sister, Mary Fleming, of Plainfield; nephew W.J. Franks and his wife, Catherine Franks, and their son, Coleson, of Barre; niece Elizabeth Chizmar and her husband, Jason, and their children Nash and Nora, of Springfield, New Hampshire; niece Serena Franks, of Plainfield; and niece Krista Franks and her partner, Matt Shangraw, of Williamstown. She will be lovingly remembered by her sisters-in-law Helen Hogan, of Burlington, Kathleen Danehey and her husband, Charles, and their children Maura, Charlie and James, of Hopewell Junction, New York, and Bridget Hogan Cole and her husband, Brian, and their children Mathew and Ben, of Valencia, California. Also left to cherish her memory are her brothers-in-law Arthur Hogan and his wife, Eileen, and their children Rush and Ashleigh, of Duxbury, Massachusetts, Patrick Watson Hogan and his children Caroline, Andrew, Ethan, and his grandson, Caleb, of Boca Raton, Florida, and Michael Hogan and his wife, Monica, and their children Aidan, Megan and Caitlin, of Hingham, Massachusetts.
She was predeceased by her father, Seamus Fleming; her in-laws Arthur and Helen Hogan; her sister-in-law, Pamela Watson; and her great-nephew, Gabriel.
Anne was a first-generation American as her parents immigrated to America from Ireland in the 1960s. She leaves many aunts, uncles and cousins in Ireland and she had the opportunity to visit them many times over her lifetime.
