BARRE - Gladys May Barton, 83, formerly of Ellison Street, died Friday, June 7, 2013, at the Rowan Court Health and Rehab Center in Barre.

Born Aug. 17, 1929, in Quincy, Mass., she was the daughter of Nils and Alleene (Mayo) Molander. She attended local schools and was later employed by the Rock of Ages Capacitor Plant, and for many years by the city of Barre as a crossing guard.
On Sept. 24, 1954, she married Earl Barton in Montpelier. The couple always lived in the local area, including 55 years on Ellison Street.
One of her favorite pastimes was playing bingo.
Survivors include her husband, Earl, of Barre; a daughter, Vivian Lawrence, and her husband, John, and two sons, Michael Barton and his wife, Sandy, and Steven Barton, all of Barre; along with five grandchildren, Patrick Barton, Jennifer Barton, Jason Lawrence, Sean Lawrence and Laura Charbonneau; and two great-grandchildren, Todd Charbonneau and Dylan Charbonneau; and nieces, nephews and cousins.
Besides her parents, she was predeceased by her brothers, Arnold and Russell "Fuzzy" Molander, and a sister, Dorothy Superneault.
Her funeral service and life celebration will be held on Thursday, June 13, 2013, at 1 p.m. at the Hooker and Whitcomb Funeral Home, 7 Academy St., Barre.
