BARRE - Jerry R. Barcomb, 72, of Allen Street, passed away Saturday, Aug. 9, 2014 at his home with his family and friends at his bedside.

Born in Barre on March 8, 1942, he was the son of the late James and Elsie (Fordyce) Barcomb.
Jerry attended Barre City schools and was a graduate of Spaulding High School, class of 1960.
After his schooling he served his country proudly in the U.S. Army from 1960 to 1963.
On May 9, 1964, he married Rachel Pouliot in St. Monica Catholic Church in Barre. They resided in Barre until 1973 when they moved to Hyde Park, Vermont, where they owned and operated Barcomb Stationers in Morrisville until 1983, when they returned to Barre where they made their home.
Jerry was employed as a draftsman for the Rock of Ages Corp. until his retirement in 2008 but continued working part-time as a tour guide for Rock of Ages Corp. until 2013.
He was a member of St. Monica Catholic Church of Barre and the Barre Elks Lodge 1535.
Among his interests were golfing and hunting, and he enjoyed camping in North Carolina, Virginia Beach and Florida, and especially enjoyed watching his grandson car racing and also spending precious time with his family.
Survivors include his wife of 50 years of marriage, Rachel Barcomb, of Barre; four children, Robert Barcomb and his wife, Shenna, of Virginia Beach, Virginia, Robin Pembroke and her husband, Todd, of Montpelier, Vermont, Debbie Flynn and her husband, Tim, of Morgan, Vermont; Don Barcomb and his wife, Tamara, of Statesville, North Carolina, as well as 17 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren. He is also survived by two sisters, Mae Davis and her companion, Paul Brewer, of Fort Meyers, Florida, and Louise Bouchard and her husband, Paul, of Rutland, Vermont, and many nieces and nephews.
Besides his parents, he was predeceased by one brother, Walter Barcomb, and one sister, Joyce Houser.
A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated on Wednesday, Aug. 13, 2014, at 11 a.m. in St. Monica Catholic Church in Barre.
Family and friends may call at the Pruneau-Polli Funeral Home in Barre on Tuesday, Aug. 12, from 7 to 9 p.m. Extra parking is available in the St. Monica parking lot.
Burial will follow the Mass at St. Sylvester Cemetery in Lower Websterville, Vermont.
