CHELSEA - Lois Helen Lyford, 76, died Friday, Aug. 24, 2018, in Groton, Vermont.
She was born March 8, 1942, in Chelsea, Vermont, the daughter of Herbert G. and Gertrude N. (Doyle) Lyford.
She lived in Chelsea until 1979. Over the years, she had lived with multiple providers through Upper Valley Services. For the last several years, she had shared the home of Florette and Robert Dorr, of Groton, Vermont.
She had been a container sorter at the Bottle Redemption Center in Bradford, Vermont, and had also worked at the P&H Truck Stop in Wells River, Vermont.
In her younger years, she loved to fish.
Lois loved family get-togethers, seeing and having contact with people, and collecting teddy bears and stuffed animals.
She was predeceased by her parents and a brother, Herbert J. Lyford, of Rio Rancho, New Mexico. His passing was Aug. 9, 2018.
She is survived by a brother, Daniel Lyford and his spouse, Diane, of The Villages, Florida; three nieces, Mari Lyford, of Albuquerque, New Mexico, Lisa Kreiger and her spouse, Michael, of Oxford, Florida, and Kelly Lyford and her spouse, Amy Larow, of Fairfax, Vermont; a nephew, William A. Lyford and his spouse, Christy, of Rio Rancho, New Mexico; three aunts, Julia Degoosh, of West Berlin, Vermont, Anna Mattoon, of Kodak, Tennessee, and Marion Simonds, of West Hartford, Vermont; and many cousins.
There are no public calling hours. A graveside memorial service will be held Saturday, Sept. 22, 2018, at 11 a.m. in the Highland Cemetery in Chelsea, Vermont. A celebration of life will follow at the United Church in Chelsea.
The family would especially like to thank Florette and Robert Dorr for the many years of loving care provided to Lois. Also, we thank the Angles of Caledonia Home and Hospice Care for the service they provided Lois.
