Michael Bessette Obituary
Born Jan. 23, 1951, in Burlington, he was the son of Robert and Lorraine (Hall) Bessette and was a graduate of Burlington High School in 1970. He had been a varsity baseball and football player while in high school.
On Feb. 21, 1987, he married Ivana J. Argenti in St. Monica Catholic Church in Barre City, where they have always made their home.
He had worked with his father as a private contractor for many years and later was associated with wood products manufacturing. He retired as shipping manager at the Northfield Wood Products in 2005, due to medical disability.
He enjoyed the family cottage at Joe's Pond, traveling to Hawaii, his pet dogs and cats and spending time with his friends at the Barre Elks Club.
His memberships included St. Monica Catholic Church, Barre Elks Lodge #1535 - where he had served on the governing board, the Mutuo Inc. and Barre Post #10 Sons of the American Legion.
Besides his widow, he leaves an aunt, cousins and many friends.
He was predeceased by his brother, Craig Bessette, and his parents.
The Memorial Mass and celebration of life will be held 11 a.m., Saturday, Nov. 20, 2010, in St. Monica Catholic Church in Barre.
Interment will be made in the Hope Cemetery.
There are no calling hours.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Central Vermont Humane Society, P.O. Box 687 Montpelier, VT 05601.
The Hooker and Whitcomb Funeral Home, 7 Academy St., Barre is in charge of the arrangements.

I am so sorry for your loss Ivana, I met your husband a couple of times and really thought he was a great guy. Life is tough at these days of heavy clouds, but the sun will shine again and you will ALWAYS have the great memories of the life and friendship you had with Mike, and to think, that someday, we will all meet again, is a positive force for all that believe! Jamie's wit and sense of humor will be sorely missed by us Elk buddies. The hospitality he extended when I visited he and Ivana at Joe's Pond was extremely warm and gracious (even when I was dragging along extra kids and dogs!)Jamie, you were certainly one of a kind!
